Poets often use personal experiences to explore questions about who we are and where we feel at home. Poetry about identity and migration can capture the emotions that come with leaving a familiar place, adapting to somewhere new, or feeling connected to more than one culture. Through poetry, writers can examine memories, family, language, belonging, and the ways movement changes a person’s sense of self. These poems do not always present migration as a simple journey from one place to another. Instead, they can reveal how identity continues to develop through memories, relationships, and new experiences. Poetry gives these complex feelings a voice and allows readers to see migration through deeply personal perspectives.
